CHALLENGE SLIDER - DOG PUZZLE GAME REVIEW

Let’s see what Challenge Slider is all about.

Nina Ottoson puzzle review

In one of our previous reviews we talked about Nina Ottosson’s Dog Worker puzzle. Today we’ll take another one of her puzzles, and give you our honest thoughts.

This is the Challenge Slider dog puzzle, by Nina Ottosson – let’s talk about how it works and if it’s worth buying it.

About the puzzle

Now the Dog Worker puzzle itself is very simplistic.

It is completely made of plastic and it has two parts, one of which is the puzzle frame with the slidable parts. The second is the removable part that has all the small treat compartments.

It has nice bright colors - the upper part has a white frame and light blue movable sliders, and the lower part of the puzzle is bright orange.

The puzzle setup is quite straightforward - you hide treats under movable parts and then your dog has to think, which way and how to move the parts in order to get to the treat.

You can use as many or as little treats as you like, which in turn makes solving the puzzle easier or a little more difficult.

What are the pros and cons? 🤓

So this time we’re not gonna dive deep on why we recommend getting interactive toys and puzzles like this to your dog, because we covered this in our previous Nina Ottosson puzzle review, which you can read here.

This time let’s focus specifically on the Challenger Slider dog puzzle itself.

Nina Ottosson puzzle pros and cons

Pros

  • Very simplistic and easy to understand

  • 24 small compartments for hiding the treats

  • Bright and colourful

  • Super easy to clean

  • Affordable

Cons

  • Made of plastic (could break easily)

  • Gets a little monotonous with time / usage

  • Slides around the floor (has no rubber stickers)

Should you buy it?

Let’s put it this way - if we didn’t have the Challenge Slider dog puzzle, then would we buy it?

I would say yes, absolutely.

Even though it can get monotonous for your dog and it doesn’t do anything special (dogs can only slide the pieces up-down-left-right), it does make your dog think on how to get the treats - just by scraping with paws won’t move the sliders. There is an actual strategy to it.

So every time you are looking for a puzzle for your four legged friend, then think about which puzzles you already have at home and while choosing new one, don’t only pay attention for cool colors, but look what kind of functions it has, how different compartments move, what level puzzle it is and if your dog has played with something similar already.

We, dog paw-rents want the puzzle and packaging to look awesome, different and colorful. But to our doggos, the design doesn’t really matter. 😅 They just need something that is a fun challenge to them.

We’ve given this puzzle to many dogs, and based on what we’ve seen, this has always been a fresh, new, fun challenge for them. 🤗
