The original AirTag collar

For some time back we bought an interesting product to test out - Keepaws AirTag dog collar. This is our review, so let’s see what we thought about it.

Keepaws is a Canadian company and as they introduce their main product themselves, it’s “The original AirTag collar” for dogs. Basically they have created a product, that holds an AirTag, so that even when your dog gets off the leash, you can keep track of where your dog is, because of the Airtag’s capability to find anything.

Why did we get it?

We actually got two of their products - the Keepaws Tactical AirTag Collar as well as the matching Tactical Leash and we decided to get these for a few reasons actually:

  • our suuuuper curious dog (safety - AirTag collar)

  • our energetic Husky (Tactical Leash to use for running)

  • being a dog trainer (promoting products that are actually helpful for dogs and dog owners and trying to prevent dogs getting lost from their families)

We have a Siberian Husky and that breed often has a tendency to run away (ours never have, but a dog tracker is never a bad idea). Huskies in general need a lot of exercise, training and mental stimulation. And if they don’t get enough movement, they’ll get bored and often times just run away to explore the world.

Also, as time has passed, aside from our dog training app Pocket Puppy School, I have been spending more time training dogs and consulting dog owners. So knowing about helpful products is an important part.

Testing out Keepaws Tactical AirTag Collar and Tactical Leash

Let’s talk about the AirTag collar

When it comes to Keepaws’s collar, then you can choose either a nylon (that’s what we got) or a leather collar. Now, even though their leather collar looks super chic (still thinking about getting it 😅), then with rainy weather, leather material can get quite slipper and may be a little uncomfortable to hold (just our preference, since it rains a lot where we live).

I was a little afraid that the nylon light pink collar gets dirty fast, but it has been a few months now and it still looks VERY nice and surprisingly clean. It is our own preferance, but I think that the collar could also use a reflecting thread.

Then it would make dogs a lot more visible during darker times. If you already are familiar with their products and have been waiting to get it, then we have an affiliate discount code for you - use PPS to get 15% from your order.

The tactical dog leash

In addition to your chosen Keepaws AirTag collar, you can get a matching leash with it if you’d like. Since we like matching things, we also decided to get the Tactical Leash in light pink. 😁

Our thoughts…

As a collar and leash, we actually really enjoy using Keepaws’s products. The nylon Keepaws tactical AirTag collar and their Tactical Leash has showed good quality and durability. The leash hasn’t broken apart or stretched out any way and let us say…when we run (especially towards dog park), our Husky knows how to pull. 😄

But for dog training sessions we personally wouldn’t use the Tactical Leash, because in these cases it’s better to use a leash that won’t stretch. See our explanation about it here.

Even though they are not super special products, in a way that it is a collar and a leash, but they have thought through some details that to us (fiber padding, extra safety handle, reflecting thread etc), as dog owners have made using it very enjoyable.

Husky and Keepaws collar

But if there is something we could be picky about, then for the collar, there is an emergency handle… and let us say that it’s not really useful. At least we have never used it.

The extra handle on the leash though is a million times more useful. Even in the worst case - if your dog should ever get into a fight, you would never start looking for the small extra handle on the dog’s collar, at that fight moment you’ll just grab anything to separate two fighting dogs. And that’s all we can find to be picky about.

As a collar that has mini pocket to hold an AirTag - I would say that it’s quite unique and a good idea. Of course there are a few things about using an AirTag as a dog tracker, but we’ll talk about that separately in another blog review.

So if you have been in between about buying the product or not, then we in Pocket Puppy School recommend it! 👍
